Captain Brian Knauer wondered the Yard, pondering on his memories. He sat down one of the stone walls, not caring about the fact that the sun was beating down on him harshly. He was off shift at the moment and he was dressed in a loose t-shirt that he tucked in to his normal work pants. His cowboy hat sat on his head as well as his glasses like usual...
Shifting his rather injured gaze to the sky, he noticed that most of it was empty and full of need. He allowed a sigh to pass between his lips before he shifted his gaze downward again. Pain... that's what his life was full of. Shaking these thoughts aside, he wondered how life was going to go on from now... The Warden had made his day a happy one but Knauer had turned it sour by pondering.

Kaylen drew a sweater over her head, one that was specifically made for the prisoner's in Allenville. Even though the sun was stifling hot, there was a slight breeze out, and her arms were a bit chilly. She stuck her hands into the sweater's huge pocket, her arms getting warmth from within the enfolds of the material.
Moving along, she kept mostly to herself, nodding occasionally when a guard looked at her suspiciously. She wasn't sure where she was going, only that she had needed to get out of her cell - and fast.
Out of the corner of her eye she caught sight of a familiar cowboy hat, thinking it was Brians. She only saw a man dressed in normal street clothes, and she just about moved on when she saw him look off into the distance. Smiling widely, she moved towards him, thankful that he was off-duty.

Attention was drawn towards Kaylen as she approached him. A slight smile came to his lips as he removed his glasses and put them on the collar of his blue shirt. He got off the stone wall and began to walk to meet her half way. Halting before her, he allowed his gaze to soften and his smile to become a bit wider. "Hello," he said softly.
He noticed the sweater and gave a slightly confused look. "Are you cold?" he asked, his voice a bit louder with concern coating his words. The rememberance of the conversation with the Warden caused him to suppress a shudder. He couldn't let the other inhabitants know that something was going on between him and Kaylen.

She nodded sheepishly, her extra large sweater hanging off of her. "Yeah, those cells give me a cold chill." She said with a matter-of-fact tone. Smiling across the few feet at him, she crossed her arms, then moved over towards the stone wall again. Pressing up against it, she surveyed him, her mocha eyes twinkling - happy to see him.
Sliding down the wall with an exxagerated movement, she plopped onto the grass, patting the space beside her. "How is everything?" She asks, a bit formally.

Grunting softly, he allowed himself to fall into position beside her. Turning his gaze to her, another slight smile came to his features. "Everything's good... how have you been?" he asked, a bit worried. He wondered if the Warden had talked to Kaylen yet... and if he had what he had said... The conversation he had with the Warden days ago seemed to plague him. Only one good out come of that conversation...
The right to love Kaylen. He didn't get too close to Kaylen in fear that the Warden would spot them and call Knauer back to his office for another 'chat'. That wouldn't be a good thing in Knauer's book. Swallowing slightly, he turned his gaze up the sky before looking back down. He glared at a prisoner and guard passing by when they gave him a confused look.

She smiled slightly, a hand moving up to whisk away some of her fly-away hair. Kaylen had heard talk that the Warden had came down hard on Knauer, and she had felt so bad about it - I mean, none of this would have happened had she just stayed away.
But, feelings were feelings, and obviously the Warden had worked out some kind of a compromise. Something he rarely did, probably. She moved closer to him slightly, her arm brushing against his. She wished that they would be able to have a better relationship - hopefully once she was out of prison and able to get on with her life. But until then, it would be like this. Hushed conversations and continuous glances.
She squeezed his arm gently, and smiled with a twinkle in her eye, and a slight shrug. "Yeah, everything's ok. I met a few more prisoner's today - everyone seems ok, I guess I expected that."

A slight chuckle escaped his lips as he looked at her. He gently grabbed her hand and rubbed it with his thumb. "That's a good thing to hear... has... has the Warden talked to you?" he asked, worry filling his voice. The Warden was unpredictable and he was known to do things that no one would think of. Repositioning his cowboy hat, he looked up at an inmate and shook his head while rolling his eyes.
The two of them attracted so much attention. It was like a friggin' gossip ring. It drove him insane without a doubt. Allowing a slight sigh to pass between his lips, he looked at her again.

Kaylen shook her head, a bit concerned. "No, he hasn't talked to me at all, actually. I've never met the guy yet, which is odd." She smiled at Brian as he stroked her thumb, her back was digging slightly into teh wall, and she adjusted herself.
"Why, did something go wrong?" She asked, concerned, she would hate herself is Knauer got into any trouble with his boss.

"Not at all," he said, trying to assure her that nothing had happened. He just was unsure about the fact of the Warden talking to her... especially after everything Knauer had said to him in the office. Suppressing a sigh, he gazed into her eyes and smiled softly as an extra assuring tool. His eyes gleamed slightly in the sunlight as he scanned her features.
"Meeting the Warden isn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world..." He gave a mere shrug as he turned his gaze away. How many times he had been in the Warden's office he did not know... what he did know was most of them were on good terms instead of ugly.

Kaylen laughed, poking him playfully in the arm. "Yeah..I bet it's not the most exciting thing...I've heard he's a major hard-ass...maybe if he hooked up with one of the women he would get a little softer!" She laughed, he knew she was kidding. She kissed his hand softly, bringing it up to her pale pinkish lips. "Anyways, I do want to meet him soon, I mean, he's the talk of the town around here, and I want to see what all the fuss is about!" She laughed.

A chuckle escaped the officer's lips as she gently kissed his hand. He blushed slightly, remembering they were out in the middle of everybody. Shoving this fact aside, he got a bit closer to her, ignoring protests from the other prisoners. "You may think you want to, but trust me, you don't." He gently touched his nose to hers before drawing away. The last thing he needed was to be caught by the Warden.

She smirked in his face, her nose touching the end of his in a wierd eskimo kiss kind of way. This is what she liked. Being here with him - sometimes it was like they weren't even in a prison anymore. This is the way love should be, she mused. Picking off a piece of dried lint off his otherwise meticulous t-shirt, she started tickling him, at first being playful, and by the end, slightly more mischeviously. Ah, the joys of being a woman. "By the way, the Warden's coming.." She trailed off, squinting into the distance as boots could be heard approaching.

The Warden stopped in front of the wrestling pair, his eyes raised in annoyance. Looking down at them, his shadow cast a gloomy interferance on their fun times. Taking off his sunglasses leisurely, he folded his arms. "So, Captain, is this your idea of being discreet?" He asked, pointing to the other inmates who were witnessing. "And this must be your inmate galpal."

He started chuckling before bursting out into hysterical laughter as he tried to grab her hands. When he saw the Warden approach, he instantly got to his feet and took off his cowboy hat in respect. "Sir... sorry sir..." He looked down at the ground, remembering the punishing conversation he had with the Warden earlier. He winced slightly but forced himself to look up at the Warden.
"I was being very careless... sir..." Be on the Warden's good side... be on the Warden's good side... he kept reminding himself. Then, feeling a bit bold, he took off his glasses and put them in his pocket. "With all due respect Warden, I must ask that you don't talk about Ms. Davidson that way," he said in a cool, bold tone as he looked the Warden in the eyes.

Kaylen bent her head, staring into nothingness. Her head began to beat faster as she heard Brian defending her, when the warden called her his "galpal". So degrading. She looked up slightly, her head tilted towards the tall man standing before them, a figure of authority. The warden. She finally got to meet him, and in the first thirty seconds, made a horrible impression. What the hell was she thinking, trying to kiss Brian in daylight.

The Warden shook his head with a smurk. "I can call this inmate whatever I damn well feel like, Captain, and don't you be telling me what to do." He straddled the ground, his cowboy boots kicking up the sand in the dusty heat. "Now, lead this inmate back to her cell, where she will remain until I say so....got it?" He gave an evil grin, happy to be in charge.

<<Hm... decisions decisions... what should Captain K do? lol>>
Trying to decide what to do, Knauer inhaled sharply. The dry air almost made him gag but he wasn't going to do as the Warden said if it dealt with Kaylen. "I'll speak as I please sir... especially if it comes to the inmate beside me... If you have a problem with that... then there's going to be issues... I'm sure Michelle would be real proud of you," he said sharply before beckoning to Kaylen. "Come on Kaylen. We have no other reason to be here..."
He started to walk off, pondering what he had just said. He had just mouthed off to the Warden in front of all the inmates and guards. A few guards gave unsure looks while a couple, including Brin, stood behind Kaylen to make sure she didn't go any other way but forward and to ensure she would be safe until she got to her cell.
