Sweat beaded the forehead of the head guard as he made an effort to lift a weight. His tanned muscluar arms strained with the effort but he was doing good. Deciding the weights were not exactly wanted, he put them away and made his way over to the treadmills that stood not far off. As much as he despised the treadmills, he would run anyways. Getting on, he plugged the card in to make it go and set the settings to a number five. Not too fast but not slow either.
He forced his legs to move with the speed of the treadmill, inclining it a bit. This was a bit more effort than he wanted to have but overall, it was good for him. Age hadn't yet begun to reach the guard but his fitness was beginning to decline a bit. This was the only way to get back on track. Sweat began to drip down his face and arms, making his shirt stick to his back in a rather uncomfortable fashion. Air began to leave his lungs as he slowed the pace down a bit before easing himself to a halt.
His legs began to feel awkward as he stood there, trying to regain his breath. Shaking his head, he wiped some sweat out of his eyes. As he breath began to return to normal, he allowed his thoughts to wander.

Hazen leaned up against the back wall, surveying his guards as they "attempted" to do a proper workout. Chuckling to himself as he saw a couple of them struggling with minor weights, he rolled his eyes. Making his way back from the wall, he nodded hello to a few of them, tipping his cowboy hat in a brief nod of acknowledgment.
Seeing Knauer there, he stopped slightly, slipping off his shades. Tucking them into the folds of his shirt, he crosses his arms, and planted his feet firmly. "Howdy, Captain. How;s the training coming along, son?" He asked, in a rather nice tone, quiet unlike his normal self.

Seeing the Warden walking over to him, a slight groan passing from his lips. He looked at the Warden and nodded his head towards him. "Howdy Warden... coming along great I suppose..." he said, wondering what he should say to the Warden. He had already been in a spot of trouble with the Warden and he wasn't wanting to stray back to that again. Sighing softly, he tugged at the front of his shirt in an attempt to pull it away from his body.
"How have you been sir?" he asked rather strongly. He didn't want to cause trouble with the Warden but he didn't want to totally submit to him either. He had half a mind to slink out of the gym and go back to his quarters. Even then, he would still be in a spot that he really didn't want to be in. He leaned against the treadmill.

Hazen shrugged, nodding cordially to some of the newer guards that he noticed watching them from a corner. What a bunch of pansies. He thought to himself, he knew that they wouldn't dare approach him for fear of reprimanding or new orders. Turning back to Knauer, he shook his head. "Can't complain. The new inmates that are arriving tomorrow shouldn't be too much of a handful, Captain, but you never know. There's never a dull moment around here."
His eyes caught sight of bright orange outside of the gym windows, and right at that moment he caught the eyes of Kaylen. Smirking to himself, he repeated. "Nope, never a dull moment."

Knauer took a sharp intake of air as he stood there, watching Kaylen carefully. He glanced back almost nervously at the Warden. He gave a brief nod, not quite sure what he was nodding about. He caught the part about dull moment's though. "No sir, never a dull moment," he answered almost obediantely. He wiped some sweat out of his eyes before he hesitantly stepped down off the tread mill. The other woman caught his attention for a brief moment but it was obvious that she didn't interest him much.
"Please sir... would you mind if I... freshened up a little bit?" he asked rather nervously again. He wanted to escape that hell hole and go straight to his quarters. Take a shower and then elude the Warden for the rest of the day... if that was even possible. The Warden was everywhere. You couldn't escape him no matter how hard you tried. The thought of this made Knauer flinch.

The Warden shrugged, a small smirk dancing across his paled features, his chapped lips wrinkling up with satisfaction. "Sure Knauer. Head on over to the showers, then report to the main dining hall for supper - you know how those inmates get after a good cool day in the sun - they get a bit restless. We dont need a ruckus caused while they're eating. Got it?" He slipped his shades on again, stepping away from the smell of sweat and adrenaline that was reaking out of the gym room.
