Captain Knauer walked out into the graveyard, suppressing the tears that came to him. He walked through the barren wasteland until he came to a highly decorated headstone. He kneeled down in front of it, wiping away the dust and grim to reveal the words 'Michelle Feen-Knauer, 1974-1980. He choked slightly and sat down on his behind, gazing at it softly.
"Well... I did what you wanted Shell... I found someone I truly love... I think she feels the same way," he said out loud. He was talking to thin air... but it felt comforting at the same time. Sighing softly, he wiped some more dust off of the headstone. He felt a stray tear drip down his cheek as he sat there.
"Miss ya girl..." he said softly, wishing she was here with him right now... He loved Kaylen, there was no doubt about that... He just couldn't believe Michelle was gone... never to return to him. He looked down at his right hand, seeing the white gold band on his right ring finger. He had put it on there for the reason of coming here. Looking at the headstone again, he gave a small dry sob. "It isn't the same... without you..."Shaking his head, he wiped his face.
He yearned to see her once more... but he knew that wasn't possible and it was never going to be possible. Ever
It was all of his fault that she was gone... all of his fault... fault...

"Oh god," a voice sighed sarcastically from behind. Who other than Tobias Hayes would obstruct a grieving man's privacy. Mostly because he was jealous. Hayes was sitting behind a large gravestone and had been listening intently to the guard's pitious words. All about finding a new love, and missing you, and all that crap. It was about as much as a lonely man could take. He had to speak up, mostly out of a thoughtless impulse.
Hayes' bulky figure was clearly visible sitting on the ground and leaning against some stranger's stone. He didn't know anybody in the graveyard, but prisoners could go whenever they wanted to. It was a bit of freedom for the moment. To be alone to quote-unquote 'grieve'. Meh; yeah, whatever. But it was people most like this guard that he would happen to wander into that made him most disgusting. People who really could grieve.
It was terrible.

Quickly wiping his face to rid himself of the grief he was experiencing, Knauer got up, not bothering to dust himself off. Turning on his heel, he came face-to-face with the hardened criminal. "What do you want Inmate?" he snarled, realizing he didn't know who this inmate was. Oh well, just another man to boss around and put into place. This would be fun and a good way to take out his anger.
He repositioned his cowboy hat, trying his hardest not to dwell on the thoughts he had just been dwelling on. He hated it when others interrupted what he was doing. Lord knows it wasn't a good thing to make Captain Brian Knauer mad especially when it was about an emotional topic. His eyes narrowed slightly as he stood there.

"Heh, I wouldn't know where to begin..." Hayes grinned to himself, pulling up his knees to stand up. He didn't exactly feel the best vantage point wa on the ground around an emotionally distressed guard. However, Hayes' smirky expression remained constant and unworried. He was a superb poker player. Standing tall, he flexed the knuckles on his hands carelessly, his own private sign of getting ready for defense - or offense.
"But I bet you would," he grinned mischeviously, leaning over slightly to look at the gravestone he was previously at, "Michelle Feen-Knauer, eh? Didn't last too long, now did she?" Hayes jested with a vicious edge.

Knauer's eyes narrowed as he reluctantly kept his arms at his sides. He really didn't need to end up in the Hospital Wing or in a spot with the Warden. "You better watch your tongue Inmate," he snarled, trying to keep his temper in check. The flash came to him.
"MICHELLE!" a distressed Knauer dropped the gun he was holding and ran over to the fallen woman.
"Bry..." Michelle gasped.
Flexing his knuckles, Knauer tried to rid himself of these thoughts. They were unwanted at the moment and it might make him do something he would regret later. "If you aren't careful, you're going to end up somewhere you don't want to be." He noticed knuckles being flexed, putting him on edge.

"Feh," Hayes snorted in rebuke, starting to slowly sidle to the right in an easy semi-circle around the Guard, putting his hand nonchalantly into his pockets. The guard was obviously close to snapping at this point, Hayes just liked to see how close that edge was, "I've been to heaven, hell, and everywhere in between. There ain't no place I haven't already been. But it seems to me, cowboy," Hayes grinned, noting the guard's hat, "That you're treading on terra incognita."

His eyes narrowed even more as Hayes made his comment. "Watch it. You aren't exactly treading on safe ground buddy," his tones were sharp and not all willing to share a friendly connection with the inmate. He tensed slightly, wondering how far he would have to be pushed before the beating started. Flexing his fingers once more, he snorted softly and watched the inmate with caution and weariness. Wondering if he should be afraid of this inmate, he turned to face him.
This inmate truly was treading on dangerous ground. He really didn't want to talk about the past or allow this prisoner to know he was grieving about something. Fixing his cowboy hat slightly, a slight smirk danced onto his lips. "Am I now?" he asked, trying to suppress a chuckle. Any fear he felt was now gone. He could take this prisoner on if he had to.

Inmate vs. Knauer... Hm.... who was going to come out on top of this verbal battle? Artemis sighed, wandering over quietly. Yea, she remembered Michelle all right. A good guard, she was. Honest, had a good sense of humor, and on top of that, she was Knauer's only love... well then anyway. Now he had Kaylen and everything was different. Oh well, life went on.
As her steps brought her closer Arti realized she did not know the man Knauer was talking to. He must be new 'cuz Artemis Piercen had been in the Allenville Prison long enough to know almost every inmate (and Guard for that matter) in this Joint. From Caretaker to Engleheart, she knew 'em all... well except for this guy.... obviously....
"I don't think we want any fights breaking out, boys."
She commented, her voice smooth as silk and her piercing emerald eyes gleaming out from behind her layered ebony hair. As she passed Caretaker's grave, she nodded in respect. Caretaker was a good guy with an excellent sense of humor. It was good for Inmate Unger that he wasn't comming back to Allenville or there'd be another grave to be dug... his.

Kaylen moved quickly throughout the gravestones, her feet stepping lightly despite her heavy boots that were issued to her at the time of her incarceration. She heard Brian and a new inmate yelling at her, as she was walking through the cells, and she didn't want him to do anything that he would regret.
As she got closer, she realized that she didn't know this new inmate that was duking it out with Knauer. He seemed tough though, and lashing out at Knauer seemed to make him get worse. Sighing heavily, she moved closer, and noticed that Arti was there too. Smiling at her, she still wasn't sure if they were friends.
Placing a hand on Brian's outstretched arm, she smiled at the other inmate tightly. "Hi...I'm Kaylen." She said.

Looking at her as she touched his arm, Knauer gave a surprised look. He noticed Arti as well and looked at her. Gazing between the two, he couldn't help but feel a bit loved. Smirking at Arti's comment, he shook his head and turned back to Hayes, glaring at him. Gently touching Kaylen's arm, he spoke. "Kaylen, it's best if you don't..." He didn't want her to get hurt.
The headstone behind him was a constant reminder of what had happened those many years ago. Forcing back a wince, he snuck a glance at it before returning to Hayes. He wouldn't allow another person in his life to get hurt, it just wasn't going to fly.
